Village News
The islands in Ocean Country have been celebrating the arrival of the next Umikage, Saizo. The long bridge leading to SHIPPUUGAKURE NO SATO has been closed for outsiders because they wish to celebrate this moment with Ocean Country natives only.
As usual, the Storm Country has been hosting the Asgard Games to welcome their Kanetsukage, Cornelia. It's a double special occasion because Cornelia is also the first female Kanetsukage. She has been picked for her courage, loyalty and outstanding power by the BOUFUUGAKURE NO SATO elders.
Not only that, but the Cherry Blossom Country has become relieved as well. It seems that everyone is slowly picking up after the war now. KUSAMURAGAKURE NO SATO proudly presented their new Sakurakage, Altair.
TSUKIGAKURE NO SATO is still thriving on the merchants coming in and out. They have not experienced anything special lately. Their wealth has remained the same as they were not forced to invest into shinobi unlike the others.
On the cold isles of the Blizzard Country, HYOUGAGAKURE NO SATO has still refused to create a free traveling policy. Some habits never change. To protect their traditions, they have even warned outsiders to not interfere with their matters.
Now that everyone is picking up again, who will come out on top?

Shinoe was readying another kunai when Saizo posed the question of the bear's importance and she paused before shaking her head in confusion. As far as she knew, most of the animals in the forest were left alone, though were not spared any mercy when they became offensive. But her answer didn't seem to be needed as he was already jumping down. "Hey-!" The brunette exclaimed in worry and annoyance. Growling, she knew she couldn't leave him to fight all on his own and so perched her feet on the branch she was on before launching herself downwards towards the fray. Taking advantage of Saizo's jutsu attack on the second bear, she aimed towards that one, her right leg extended downwards as she fell onto it's back. Since it was still recovering from the water shot at it's face, the bear let out a roar of surprise and pain from the kick, rearing up and knocking the kunoichi off of it. Grunting as she tucked and rolled, Shinoe quickly got to her feet and raised her fists to protect her face as she got into a fighting stance. The reality of the situation finally really hit her as the bear let out a roar and took a swipe at her. She dodged, but it still managed to tear into the side of her thigh, making her wince in pain as the blood flowed. The wound wasn't deep, but she couldn't tell much more than that, not wanting to take her eyes off of her opponent. Carefully, she moved the kunai she had been holding to where the circular end of the handle was in her enclosed fist and the handle was poking between her fingers, the blade protruding from her fist. Jumping up, Shinoe attempted to punch her fist (kunai first) at the bear's head.

Saizo would struggle atop the bear as it flailed around violently. Did he not pierce deep enough? It was the neck after all. It should have been a fatal wound, or at least a critical injury. Wolverine bears were tough it seems. He had pierced into its neck, but it still had the will to live. It made Saizo respect the beast. He normally would have avoided conflict with such animals, but seeing as they were both up in the tree, the only easy way out was to kill them. There might have been a better way, but he was a bit too impatient. He still had much he wanted to ask the young women. Saizo would hold on for his life as the bear would try and buck him off. His arm was stuck right into its neck though, so that wasn't going to happen. He would try and grab on to the kunai that was thrown earlier. Seeing an opportunity to convert the weapon of initial attack into the one of final blow as well.

Saizo luckily grabbed the kunai with his free arm. He quickly, while holding it in a back grip, would stab into the bears skull. It was rather gruesome to imagine, but life truly was a gruesome thing if one were to think about it. He would thrust it in as deep as he could. The bear started slowing down its thrashing till it finally collapsed on to the ground. He wondered, how much would these things hides cost? Maybe the bones would be collector items. Or maybe just taxidermy them and make a profit. That seemed disrespectful though. Maybe just give them a nice grave for their final resting place. This one did put up quite a fight. Well, as far as ninja against regular animal fights were. While he was on the bear, he could see Shinoe fighting with the second bear. He was busy on the first bear when this happened, but he was able to help if need be. He wouldn't interfere though. This was her fight. Unless she asked for it, he shouldn't intrude. It was also a good opportunity to see her skills as well.

The bear before Shinoe snarled as her kunai was plunged into it's eye socket. That hadn't been her intended target, but not a bad choice all in all. The blow severely wounded the wolverine bear and impaired it's vision. The bad side was that it was now twice as angry and clawing wildly in her general directly. Jumping back as it made another lunge, the kunoichi gritted her teeth as she tried to think of a new approach and more specifically not think about the blood running down the kunai in her hand and down her arm. Glancing towards Saizo's directly as she backed up, Shinoe noticed his position on the bear's back. That was definitely a better way to avoid getting mauled to death. Rolling to her right, the side of her bear's blind side, the brunette jumped up and hooked her left arm around the bear's thick neck, hoping that she wouldn't get bucked off. With her right arm free, she brought it up to punch her kunai repeatedly into the bear's neck and head, a fierce but grim expression on her face as it was spattered with blood.

Saizo would lean on a tree as the bear he was fighting lay dead on the ground. He wasn't sure what to do with a body that large. It didn't feel right to leave it there. Maybe he would have to consult the ninja who actually belonged to this land. She definitely showed a bit of recklessness in her fighting style. A bit too up close and personal. He would keep in mind that he had just done the same thing. But on the other hand, he found a spot where the bear couldn't quite hit him at too. She was covered in blood, but was it the bears or her own? It could also be a mix. She had pissed the bear off pretty bad. He should probably interfere before she gets even more hurt. No, this was her battle. She seemed to be in control of it. She had no wasted movements as she found her way to the bears back. Probably one of its few weak spots. After all this they would both be covered in blood. One a little more then the other. Saizo had killed his bear far more swiftly then her. His arm was covered in blood, having been thrust into the bears neck. Other then that, he was relatively clean. "You almost done there?" he would yell over to here as she was stabbing the bear straight to death. If the bear could come up after that, well, that would be amazing to see.

Shinoe made sure to stab the bear several times until it finally fell to the ground and even then she persisted for two more times just to be sure it wouldn't get back up again. Finally Saizo's voice seemed to sink in and she looked up from the bloody pulp that used to be the bear's head. Nodding she stated plainly, "It's dead." She got up and stepped away from the carcass as she said, "It'd be a shame to leave them to scavengers... We might be able to get dinner out of them, but I don't have the proper tools with me to do much else." Normally she would notify a nearby house of the free meat, but she knew that nobody would be willing to come into the forest. Or rather, by the time they waited until daylight, the bear's bodies would have already been claimed by other animals. Moving to put away her kunai, the kunoichi finally realized how much blood was on her. Grimacing in distaste she surveyed her body (wondering how in kami's name she was going to get clean) before taking a glance at the cut on the side of her thigh. It was bleeding a bit too, though it didn't hurt much. "Did it get you any?" She asked of her fellow Hozuki. His arm was covered in blood, though because of the blood she couldn't tell if he was really hurt or if it was just bear blood. Otherwise he looked perfectly fine. She felt a bit embarrassed to be in such a state when he had made his kill so quickly and efficiently.

Well what a waste. Two perfectly fine bears, killed and then left to rot. Well, they could always try and carry them out with them, but he had a feeling that would be far more difficult then it sounded. The bears were not exactly light. They probably weighted around three times as much as both of them combined. Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but the point was, the bears were probably not going to be moving anytime soon. "Truly is a shame, isn't it." he would say before thinking a little more. Hmm, maybe they would be able to use their kunai to skin the bears, but honestly, neither of them probably wanted to do that. Not only would it stink the place up, but then they would have to lug around a bloody fur carpet around. He didn't want to suggest the idea, especially after having just fought the behemoths. Eating them was probably not better. The diseases and parasites he could imagine these bears carrying. He knew he hadn't the supplies to cook them on the spot. True, they could take it back to Tsukigakure, but like the skinning. Did either of them really want to? He would look on his body to see if he was scratched any after Shinoes question. "No, Im fine." he would say. He then looked over the young women. "You on the other hand." she seemed to be missing a chunk of skin in her thigh. They would have to treat that soon, before it gets infected or she loses too much blood. Luckily, Saizo carried around enough medical supplies whenever he travelled. He very rarely got to use them, so he wasn't quite an expert, but he would try his best to remember the basic training he had. "Please sit still." He would say as he got on one knee then proceeded to get out the bandage wrap and rubbing alcohol. Hopefully she would listen and let him patch her up before they continued.

Shinoe shrugged indifferently when Saizo expressed pity in not being able to get anything out of the bear's death. Not like there was anything they could do about it. She watched as he looked himself over before replying that he hadn't received any injuries and she nodded, reassured. But when he pointed out her own injury she grimaced in annoyance. "Yeah... I wasn't fast enough. It's not too deep or anything so it's fine." She already knew that the leg worked perfectly fine with minimal pain from the inflicted area due to the tearing in the skin, but not the muscle. So when he suddenly walked up to her and went down on a knee to stare the wound in the face she blanched, blinking in surprise with wide eyes. "Wai-what are y-?" But her unfinished question was answered when she saw him take out medical supplies. Instead of further protesting she simply stood still, awaiting to receive his care, though she didn't seem to be particularly happy about it.

"This may sting a little." Saizo started putting the rubbing alcohol on her wound as he cleaned it up from all the blood as well. He used a towel to wipe of the blood he had on his own arm. Probably going to throw it away later. He wasn't the best at this, but he knew enough about it that he should be able to do a decent job. "You're reckless." he said, no longer in his happy carefree tone. He was referring primarily to her rush attack at the bear. Luckily she wasn't harmed in that attack. To rush straight at your opponent, especially one that was more then three times as big as yourself. "To have rushed straight at the bear like that." he would say as he shook his head in disapproval. Saizo probably shouldn't be the one lecturing. He had been quite reckless in as well. He had rushed in and started the fight after all. But he had already planned his actions and he had followed his plan and avoided injury. What also came to mind was the fact that she hadn't used the hydrification technique to avoid injury. It had already become natural instinct for Saizo to use it whenever coming into undesired contact. He could do it instantly. She, however, didn't seem to appear as accustomed to it. He then remembered something. "So, your rank is?" he asked. Just about to grab the bandage wrap.

Shinoe's form went rigid at Saizo's warning of a stinging sensation and when the alcohol touched her flayed skin, her hands tightened into white fists as her jaw clenched around a whimper. She tried to distract herself from the pain with random thoughts, but was distracted from that task at his pointed statement. The kunoichi couldn't help but glare a little at the guy as she replied back, "So were you." But when he clarified she looked away grudgingly and shrugged. "It's dead and I'm not. Seemed to work well enough." She didn't see why he cared so much. It wasn't like they were friends or anything. Besides the fact that apparently they were in the same Clan, they were total strangers. The obvious disapproval in his tone grated against her like sandpaper. So when he asked what rank she was she snapped in an annoyed tone, "Genin, okay?" The brunette would cross her arms and look away, shaking her head in disbelief before trying to explain. "I haven't even been in Tsukigakure for very long. I met a guy right off of the boat from Shippu an he let me join as a genin. Haven't really had much opportunity to be trained with everyone gone for the Chuunin exams. But I know enough." She tried to defend, glaring back at Saizo defiantly.

Saizo chuckled as he finished wrapping up her leg and started to put his stuff away. She had a point. She lived, the bear did not. That is how survival worked. Her ninja skills apparently lacked quite a lot though. It was evident before the fight even commenced by the way she climbed the tree. Teaching wasn't something Saizo was good at though. If anything, he was a terrible teacher. The academy had probably already blacklisted him from becoming a teacher there. She didn't seem like a very good student either. Maybe it would work out better that way. "Hmm. A Genin with little to no training." he would whisper as he thought for a little bit. "What if I were to teach you something?". Saizo would stand up after he made sure he had everything together. He knew at least one thing he for sure could teach her if she was alright with it all. "But first, how bout we find our way out of this forest." he would say as he looked around for an exit. He was unable to find it but she seemed to know which way to go. "Are you feeling strong enough to walk the rest of the way?"

Shinoe tapped a finger against her folded arms as Saizo finished treating her leg. She still didn't know why he was bothering to waste his time doing that and it annoyed her because she didn't want to ask. Her eyebrow twitched as he stated that she was 'a Genin with little to no training' and glared down at the other ninja before frowning at his proposal. "....What's the catch?" The brunette already felt that she owed him since he took care of her cut, and now this? "No offense, but I can't see why you'd do that for free." If she was to seriously consider his offer she wanted to make sure she knew what she was getting into. She wasn't proud enough to ignore the fact that she could obviously learn a thing or two from the guy with the more experience. Sighing when he brought up the fact that he was lost again she looked around before pointing towards a well hidden path that would lead them out. "It shouldn't take us too long to get out of here. And after killing the bears, I don't think the other wildlife will be too keen to mess with us, at least for a while." Shinoe began walking and simply rolled her eyes at Saizo when he asked if she was strong enough to walk. "I'm fine, that cut was nothing. Why do you care so much anyway?" She wasn't used to all this concern, it was abrasive to her.

"You're quite the stubborn one." he said as he started walking towards the area she had pointed to, hoping that she would take over as he was still unfamiliar with the path. "You should learn to just go with the flow. That's what water does after all. And these lessons, you can consider them free or you can believe that they are in exchange for getting me out of here." He would have to mark this forest as a no-zone so he wouldn't end up in it ever again. Crazy animals and terrible lighting. It wasn't an ideal travel destination. Rather gloomy and had an over all negative vibe to it. She also seemed mad that he cared for her health and safety. she obviously was unfamiliar with the duties of a family. Saizo wasn't much of an expert himself. "I'm sorry, flesh wounds just...I don't like them." the sight of blood in itself was a disturbing thing. Saizo himself hadn't gotten a flesh wound in forever. His natural instincts never allowed it. To have ones own skin and muscle to be teared off. It looked and sounded far worse then it was. Saizo didn't know this though. In a way, this made him far more cautious of them, far more worried about those who had somehow got them. He would stop moving for a little as he would wait for Shinoe to pass and lead the way. Hopefully her attitude wouldn't be too much of a problem if he really was to train her.

At Saizo's statement of her stubbornness, Shinoe shrugged, not bothering to hide the small smirk on her lips. She counted her stubbornness among one of the few qualities she liked about herself. But as he started to go on about how she should go with the flow like water, which she was, and so was he, she scowled in annoyance. "You sound like my father..." The brunette grumbled under her breath. But she perked up just a little when he said that the lessons were repayment for navigating him out of the forest. "I can live with that then." He wouldn't be able to wave the fact that she owed him over her head then. As they made their way further through the forest, the twilight was beginning to leak through the canopy and trunks as the trees thinned. Glancing back at Saizo as he expressed his dislike for flesh wounds she shrugged. "That sounds better than liking them. But a flesh wound is a lot better then say your whole leg being taken off." She said sarcastically.

[OOC: A new topic would probably be best, maybe drag this one out for the crp if you want.]

Sounded just like a father. Or at least thats what he heard. Thats something Saizo had never been told. He wasn't sure if he liked it. Being a father was a great thing. But the way she said it made it sound terrible. He almost didn't feel like asking. He knew if she had asked about his father he would refuse to answer. He was glad that she would accept the training. It wasn't like he was going to force it on her, so compliance was needed if they were going to continue. Finally, some light was present in the forest. It could only mean that they were near an exit. In his head, Saizo would be thanking the gods for sending down someone who could help him in this dire situation. Though he would of appreciated someone, possibly a little older, less cranky, and maybe a little bit more captivating then this young women. Can't have everything, apparently. Her sarcasm helped make his point. It wasn't nearly as vile as some of her tones had been. Maybe it was the words she had said instead. "Guess you are right. A little is better then all of it" he would say in a rather uninterested tone as he would follow his little tour guide. "Thank you for the help. Back there and here." he said, far more softly then his previous sentence. It was in a grateful way. All he had done to her was scold her about her fighting instead of the fact that she jumped in to help him. The fact she was also helping him even though they were still unfamiliar with each other. It was rather kind if one was to look at it that way.

Shinoe ignored Saizo's reply, concentrating on not tripping over any rocks or roots as she navigated the narrow path. She was beginning to see the edge of the forest and wondered if the moon had come out yet. She was ahead of schedule. She hadn't planned on making her way out of the forest until dawn, opting to spend the night in a tree. She still had a full day before she was due to meet up with Eden and was going to spend that time training in preparation for their session. But maybe she could show off a new skill if Saizo kept his word. He didn't seem very shifty, especially considering that he was a Hozuki. That made her wary enough of him. But he wasn't...bad all in all. If a little annoying with his blandness. She preferred argumentative people, she could figure them out. But quiet passive types? She never knew what they were thinking. It put her on edge. Shinoe was brought out of her thoughts by Saizo's words of gratitude and it made her pause, staring at him for a moment in vague surprise. Before she collected her thoughts, blinking several times before shrugging it off. "It's no problem, don't mention it." The kunoichi hadn't particularly thought she was doing him a kindness in all this. They would've both been eaten if she hadn't helped, or he would've been injured. And he had already said that he would teach her a new technique in exchange for showing him out of the forest. So his gratitude felt odd to her. She wasn't used to it. Not like she ran around doing people favors or anything.
